🍞 Homemade Sourdough Bread — Step by Step
A little something from my kitchen, beyond the doll clothes — I make my own bread.
I started my sourdough starter from scratch at the beginning of February 2025. That part wasn't difficult, though it took about two weeks to grow a good, strong starter.
The harder part was getting the recipe right. There are so many groups and so much information online — I read endlessly and tried at least five different recipes, all without success. In the end I decided to trust my own experience: I already knew how to make bread with yeast, so I took one of the recipes I'd found and changed the proportions to what I felt would work. After a few attempts, and a little adjusting here and there, I finally made the loaf we all love — and the people I share it with love it too.
Since then I've stopped buying bread altogether and bake my own two or three times a week.
I thought I'd share my recipe here, in case you'd like to try it yourself. You can download it below as a printable card, in both English and Bulgarian.
If you're in the UK and would like a little starter to get you going, I'd be very happy to share.
▶️ Watch me make it: The video is filmed with music only — no narration — so the printable recipe below has all the steps and measurements.
Happy baking! 💛
