White Antique Heirloom Dress with Underskirt for 16" Sasha Dolls - 30062026-6199-138
White Antique Heirloom Dress with Underskirt for 16" Sasha Dolls
A truly special one-of-a-kind heirloom dress, made from a genuine antique christening slip and lovingly reworked to fit 16" Sasha dolls.
This piece comes complete with a matching underskirt made from the same antique fabric, and is hand-embroidered throughout — a real labour of love.
✨ This dress is featured in my "behind the scenes" video.
I filmed the making of this very dress — inspecting the original antique slip, taking it apart, saving its lace and fabric, and building the dress step by step — so whoever takes this piece home will own the dress shown in that film. A link to the video is included below, so you can see exactly where this dress began its new life, and inspect it closely too.
The dress is made from an antique christening slip, hand-sewn long ago by a very skilful seamstress, from fine cotton lawn. The lace from the slip itself became the edging on the Peter Pan collar. The skirt keeps the fullness and softness of the original, and every part of the dress is hand-embroidered — the bodice, the cuffs, the collar, the waistline sides, the skirt and the underskirt too. Every stitch is worked by hand.
Inside, the lining is attached by hand, with no raw edges — the dress is finished as neatly on the inside as it is on the outside.
The bodice opens fully at the back for easy dressing. The underskirt is gathered and made from the same antique fabric; the skirt itself is not open, but slips easily onto the doll.
Please read carefully before purchasing — about the antique fabric:
As this dress is made from a genuine antique slip, it carries a few small marks from its long life, all of which I want you to see clearly.
There is a small rust mark on the lace at the back of the dress, which I have marked with a pin in the photographs. There is also a tiny hole in the fabric at the back of the underskirt, again marked with a pin. And I have just noticed, from the photos, a further small rust mark on one of the collars at the back — this one is not pinned, as I only spotted it afterwards, but it can be clearly seen in the video.
Please do view these marks in the photographs and in the film, understand that the dress is an antique piece that needs gentle handling, and only purchase if you are happy with this.
If small marks in genuinely antique fabric bother you, please do not purchase.
A note on washing:
When the original slip arrived with me, I washed it using Ariel, so it is clean and has no unpleasant odour, and I have stored it carefully ever since. Please note that it was not washed again just before cutting. If you have any allergies or sensitivities to particular detergents, do bear this in mind.
